Liberty and equality are two sides of the same coin. Explain.

The relation between liberty and equality has been one at the important topic of Liberalism. The root of the controversy is, are Liberty and equality opposed to each other or are they complimentary to each other. In the modern constitutions liberty and equality both are the important Part of fundamental rights.

Classical liberalism gave so Much importance to liberty and equality became a slave of it. It believed that liberty is natural and so is inequality. So by nature both are opposed to each other. In short negative liberalism believes that liberty and equality are incompatible Positive liberalism believes that liberty and equality as complimentary to each other and the state was assigned the task of correcting the social and economic imbalances through legislation and regulations. However in spite of reconciliation between liberty and equality, even positive liberalism prefers liberty to equality.
