Ceasefire violation: Pak targeted forward areas along LOC

Pakistani troops Sunday opened fire and lobbed mortars at Forwards Places and Cities along the Line of Control and Global Border at Poonch and Kathua Areas of Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.

“At approximately 6:15 am, Pakistan pioneered the un-provoked cease fire breach by shooting with arms and shelled mortars across LoC in Balakote business of Poonch district.

There is no record of any casualty or damage to the side, ” the officials said.

A police officer said the crossborder shooting between both sides triggered fear among border residents.

The Pakistani Rangers also fired forward cities and posts from Karol Matrai area across the IB from Hiranagar business of Kathua district, drawing strong retaliation from the Border Security Force (BSF), he also said.
